Kid's Ministry Team Coordinator

Bio
I was raised in a Christian home in the small town of Pearl, MS. I knew at a young age that I was a hopeless sinner, and I accepted Christ as my Lord at the age of 5.

It was around the age of 15 that I heard a message on grace where the Lord showed me how marvelous the gospel truly is. I had this mindset as a child that God was always hanging over me, eager to catch every sin, instead of knowing He was a loving Father ready to forgive my every sin. This truth changed my whole mindset of Who God truly is. I couldn’t be enough, but He already was. I’m still learning this today.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Eph.2:8-9

In 2009, I attended Hinds Community College to earn my Associate’s degree in Interpreter Training Technologies as an Interpreter for the Deaf. I then moved to Chattanooga to attend Tennessee Temple University to obtain my Bachelors. I graduated with my degree in 2013, and in 2015 married my dreamy husband Kenneth Skinner, who I’d met as a fellow student cafeteria worker (all good things revolve around food).

Straight out of college I worked as a staffing coordinator for a local sitter agency, then landed a job in a senior living facility with elderly, mostly deaf folks (note my degree above), and, ironically, not one of them knew sign language. I was an activities director there for nine years before fulfilling my childhood dream of  becoming a stay-home-mommy in 2023.

Kenneth and I are happily tending a zoo at home. We have two young daughters, Sadie Belle and Daisy Mae, and a son, Thade, four cats, two dogs, a beta fish, and a partridge in a pear tree (It could be. You’ll never know unless you visit).

As well as being on staff part-time at GCC, I am homeschooling my children, and attempting to live all of life for the glory of God.
